As we age, long term recall often suffers. But exterior sense memories related to our experiences can help trigger full recall of events, sights, and even smells associated with those sense memories. Most powerful of these sense memories is sound, and the most powerful sound is music. Hearing a song we liked at an earlier period in our life triggers recall of the era, events and people associated with that song, and therefore that period of time.

People often say, “I remember the first time I heard that song!” In his humorous yet insightful presentation, Mr. Lee will randomly play popular music from the 1940’s through the 1980‘s, and relate the memories triggered by those songs. The situation he recalls will be humorous, embarrassing, warm and insightful.
In addition he plays samples from VT Themes, radio jingles, and advertising jingles to help bring about memories.
What do you recall when you hear “California Girls?” “Take the A Train?” “Stayin’ Alive?” You do recall something, and this can lead to more memories being restored.
IT’S AN EASY WAY TO HELP BUILD A SCRAPBOOK, AN ORAL HISTORY, A BOOK OR EVEN A VIDEO. AND IT IS AN EXCELLENT TECHNIQUE TO HELP THOSE SUFFERING FROM SMALL AMOUNTS OF MEMORY LOSS.
Later in the presentation, audience members will have a chance to share their memories in a “Name that Tune” segment, where music is played and people can describe their memories.
