In all of our attics, we have old memorabilia-- photos, photo albums, slide trays, tapes, letters, clippings and more that tell our own stories. To share these stories, its a great idea to some how get them onto video, so they can end up in the hands of loved one. Or you can go a step further and turn them into a story.
I got my start doing Tribute videos. Well, actually, they were slide shows, usually for my family, sometimes for my college. This lead to forming Sorgel-Lee Multimedia with Ric Sorgel in 1972.
Tributes celebrate the life and times of an individual or couple, or family, or company, and are used at weddings, birthday, anniversaries, retirements or other times of special recognition. You may see samples simply by scrolling through the items you see scrolling before yout to the helft.
Tribute videos are rewarding, but also exhausting. Slides, films, videos, and other materials must be scanned or digitized. Music (meaningful to the honoree) must be selected. The story must be chronological but still have highs and lows, like any good videostory.
I feel so strongly about the craft of producing Tribute videos that I wrote a book about it. You can read more about that at videostoryschool.com
I also run a website and offer affordable classes for hobbyists and prosumers who want to learn more about tributes. To learn more about that, click here.
